PART 01

Stalk & Stem

The tall, strong stalk is the backbone of the hemp crop. It gives two raw materials: long bast fibre from the outer layer, and woody hurd from the inner core.

The stalk and stem supply the long fibre used in textiles, paper and packaging, and the hurd used in hempcrete, insulation and animal bedding. This makes them the most widely used part of the plant.

Used for

  • Eco-textiles and clothing
  • Hempcrete and insulation
  • Bioplastics and packaging
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Animal bedding

  • Erosion control
